Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra'ndeI/ AR-eeAH-n@ GRAHN-day;[note 1] born on June 26 in 1993) is an American artist, singer, and actress. Her unique use of the whistle register as well as her four-octave vocal range is well-liked by media and critics. Grande has won numerous awards throughout her career including two Grammy Awards and one Brit Award. She also received three American Music Awards, three Billboard Music Awards and nine MTV Video Music Awards.


Grande's musical career began at the age of 15 with the Broadway musical "13". Her role as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's Victorious (2010-2013) as well as Sam & Cat (2013) was her first big hit. After watching YouTube videos of Grande performing her own songs, Republic Records signed Grande in the year 2011. Her second and third studio albums, My Everything (2014) & Dangerous Woman (2016), continued her exploration into pop and R&B. My Everything experimented with EDM and achieved global success with its hits "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang", while Dangerous Woman became her first album to have four consecutive albums at number one in the UK. Her personal struggles have influenced her trap-infused fourth and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019) Both of them were commercial and critical successes. Sweetener was awarded the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thanks U, Next was nominated as an Album of The Year and broke the record in streaming for the biggest pop album. The songs "Thank U, Next", "7 Rings", and "Break up with Your Girlfriend I'm Bored" made Grande the first solo artist to be in the top three positions on the Hot 100 simultaneously and the first woman to make it to the top at the top of the UK Singles Chart. Grande's collaborations in 2020, including Justin Bieber ("Stuck with U") and Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me", both won her the Grammy Award as Best Pop duo or group performance. Grande took on trap music with her sixth studio album Positions (2020) which, as the title track as well as the album's debut hit number 1 in the UK. Grande collaborated with The Weeknd for the remix of "Save Your Tears" and was her sixth US top single.
